This soap is a simple combination of pure olive oil, lye and water. Some sea salt has been added to help create a harder bar. A small amount of orange essential oil has also been added for a slight fragrance. Castile soap is not super bubbly like some soaps, but is the most gentle of soaps and has more of a slippery, low, easy lather. This soap needs to cure for at least ten months. Savon de Marseille soaps are made in France from a combination of olive oil, sea water, and lye, and this recipe is very close to that.
